Jorge Martin will be in Qatar with Aprilia and will try to take part in the MotoGP Grand Prix at Lusail. Confirmation came on Wednesday from the official Noale team, which has chosen to put the 2024 world champion on track even though recovery from the compound fracture of the distal radius is not yet fully complete.

The Spaniard arrives at this event after the crash in the Sprint at Phillip Island, when he fell at high speed while battling with Marc Marquez. From there a complicated path began: in the five days that followed he tried to get himself fit for Sepang, but in Malaysia he immediately found obvious limitations and on Saturday he chose to return to Spain to continue treatment. At this halfway point, then, he arrives with the aim of understanding whether his body can really cope with a return to the bike, rather than of forcing the pace.

Martin described the moment he is going through like this: «Now we will see how the body will react», Martin told Moto.it. From Thursday he will work with Aprilia to assess how much margin he has on the RS-GP and whether his right wrist allows him to brake with the necessary force, the issue that had emerged in Sepang as the most delicate.

World Championship scenario

The Qatar GP is the twentieth round of the MotoGP World Championship and, in the background, the title fight remains open too. According to Motorsport.com, Marc Marquez is the rider with the first chance to seal the deal at Lusail: he will have to score 30 points more than Martin and 8 more than Marco Bezzecchi, his Aprilia team-mate in the official Noale garage.

For Martin, the first step will be another one: understanding whether the body will respond well during the Lusail weekend. After the injury in Australia, the attempt made in Malaysia and the return to Spain to continue treatment, Qatar becomes a new test in still uncertain conditions, with Aprilia ready to follow him step by step.
