Valentino Rossi on Bezzecchi and Márquez: the possible duel in MotoGP
During a meeting between major figures in MotoGP history, Valentino Rossi spoke about the possible title fight between his protégé Marco Bezzecchi and the Spanish champion Marc Márquez.
According to the nine-time world champion, Bezzecchi is enjoying a spell of great form, but the comparison with Márquez remains very complicated, especially when the technical package is not at the same level.
Rossi explained that the Italian rider is working very hard, showing great speed and determination even in training at the Ranch. However, the bike factor remains fundamental in MotoGP battles at the top level.
Valentino Rossi on Bezzecchi and Márquez: “Bezzecchi is strong, but the bike matters”
Speaking about the potential world title duel between Bezzecchi and Márquez, Rossi highlighted how a rider’s talent does not always suffice to make up for technical differences.
According to the former Italian champion, Aprilia could be slightly less competitive than Ducati, and that would make it very difficult to beat a rider of Márquez’s level. For Rossi, when one of the protagonists has a superior bike, the margin for rivals shrinks dramatically.
At the same time, the Doctor highlighted an important quality of Bezzecchi: the ability to communicate with the engineers and provide precise indications on the bike’s behaviour. This technical sensitivity is considered a fundamental element in the development of the Aprilia project.

Bagnaia’s moment according to Rossi
During the conversation, the topic of Francesco Bagnaia, another rider linked to the VR46 Academy, also came up.
Rossi explained that Márquez’s arrival and his competitiveness can also have a psychological impact on the other riders on the grid. When an opponent proves to be extremely quick and consistent, it becomes harder to maintain the same mental confidence.
For this reason, the nine-time champion said he offers the riders in his Academy advice mainly from a mental point of view, as well as a technical one.
Rossi rules out a return to MotoGP
During the meeting, a question was also asked about a possible return to the track on a MotoGP bike. Rossi, however, ruled out this possibility categorically.
The former champion explained that he does not feel the need to ride a premier-class prototype again, preferring to train with production-based bikes and continue working with the young riders in his Academy.
Rossi’s role in the development of young riders
Today Valentino Rossi continues to be a central figure in the MotoGP paddock, above all thanks to the work carried out with the riders of the VR46 Academy.
Through training, technical advice and mental support, the Tavullia champion follows riders such as Bezzecchi, Bagnaia and Morbidelli closely, contributing to the growth of the new generations in world motorcycling.
