Brno’s return lights up the MotoGP World Championship

MotoGP rediscovers one of the most iconic circuits on the calendar and does so at a decisive moment of the season. The Czech Grand Prix brings the Moto World Championship back to Brno after years of absence, in a weekend that could represent a turning point in the fight for the world title.

The first day on track has already provided important indications. If on one hand Ai Ogura surprised everyone by setting the fastest time on Friday, on the other hand the main title contenders have started to show their cards. Marco Bezzecchi continues to convey confidence on the Aprilia, Marc Márquez has shown he has great potential despite two crashes, Jorge Martín wants to put the difficult Hungarian weekend firmly behind him, while the return of Álex Márquez is one of the most emotional stories in the paddock.

The Brno circuit, with its ups and downs, long fast corners and demanding braking zones, promises to bring out the talent of the riders more than the characteristics of the individual bikes. And that is precisely the theme that accompanied Thursday's Media Day and Friday's action.

Bezzecchi looks ahead: “We’re only thinking about Brno”

He arrives in the Czech Republic as championship leader and with inevitably greater pressure than at the opening rounds of the season. Marco Bezzecchi, however, continues to appear extremely calm.

The Aprilia rider has definitively put what happened in the previous Grand Prix behind him, explaining that all his energy is now devoted exclusively to working on the RS-GP. No desire to fuel controversy, only the wish to continue the growth process begun at the start of the season.

During Friday, Bezzecchi confirmed the competitiveness of the Noale manufacturer’s bike on the Czech track as well. Race pace appeared consistent and the feeling with the bike grew progressively session after session.

The declared target remains to arrive in the best possible conditions for Saturday’s Sprint and above all for Sunday’s long race, where tyre management could become decisive.

Marc Márquez: winning speed, but the two crashes make him reflect

Marc Márquez’s day was probably the most intense of the entire paddock.

The Ducati Lenovo Team Spaniard hit the deck twice during Friday, but both crashes did not compromise his work programme.

The six-time MotoGP world champion explained that, in optimal physical condition, he probably would have managed to save both situations. A reflection that shows how recovery from injuries is still an evolving process, despite performances continuing to be at the very highest level.

The most important aspect, however, concerns the final result of the day. Márquez secured direct access to Q2, avoiding risks on Saturday and being able to focus exclusively on race pace.

His technical analysis of Aprilia’s performances was also interesting. According to the Ducati rider, it is not correct to attribute all the credit to the bike: the performances seen so far are above all the result of the level shown by the riders who are riding it.

A statement that also represents a mark of esteem for Bezzecchi and for the work done by the Noale manufacturer.

Jorge Martín turns the page after Hungary

One of the most eagerly awaited moments of Media Day was Jorge Martín’s comments.

The Spaniard tackled the subject of the incident in the previous World Championship round without hesitation, explaining that he had spoken personally with the riders involved.

Martin reiterated that he had offered his apologies and wanted to definitively close that chapter of the season, focusing exclusively on work on track.

From a technical point of view, the world champion appeared satisfied with the early feedback obtained at Brno. The feeling with the bike grew over the course of the day and the pace shown leaves room for interesting margins ahead of the Sprint.

However, the unknown remains the penalty to be served on Sunday, an element that could influence his strategy over the course of the entire weekend.

Álex Márquez’s return moves the paddock

Among all the stories of Friday, that of Álex Márquez is probably the most significant.

After the terrible crash in Barcelona and more than a month away from racing, the Gresini team rider has finally returned to the bike.

His first words perfectly capture the meaning of this comeback.

For him, being back on track already represents a personal victory.

The work done during rehabilitation has allowed him to receive the green light from the doctors, but the Spanish rider admitted that the most difficult part was not mental, but physical.

Shoulder and neck pain continue to limit some movements, but every lap completed represents another step towards full recovery.

The day ended with a placing far from the front positions, but the result inevitably takes second place to the simple fact of being back in competition.

Acosta sees an increasingly balanced MotoGP

Pedro Acosta continues to confirm himself as one of the most mature riders in the entire field.

The KTM talent underlined how the level of MotoGP is extremely high today and how just a few tenths are enough to go from the front positions to the third row.

According to Acosta, the secret to remaining competitive is to limit mistakes and maximise every opportunity, especially on technical circuits like Brno.

The Spaniard also highlighted how weekend management has become fundamental in such a balanced championship, where every point can make the difference in the second part of the season.

Joan Mir regains confidence with Honda

Among the most positive notes of Friday is certainly that of Joan Mir.

The 2020 world champion described the first day of work as positive, despite a small crash in the final stages of the session.

Mir underlined how the lap time achieved came without using slipstreams or particular strategies, an element that makes the pace shown by Honda even more encouraging.

Race pace also appeared competitive and the Spanish rider did not hide his pleasure at riding again on a historic circuit like Brno, a track that has always suited his riding style.

Brno confirms a World Championship more open than ever

The first day of the Czech Grand Prix gave the image of an extremely balanced championship.

Aprilia continues to be a benchmark with Marco Bezzecchi and Ai Ogura, Ducati remains very close thanks to the talent of Marc Márquez, while KTM and Honda seem to have taken further steps forward.

The time gaps are tiny and qualifying could take on an even greater importance than at other circuits.

The characteristics of Brno, in fact, make it difficult to recover ground when the pace of those at the front is particularly high.

For this reason, Saturday’s Sprint Race could already offer valuable indications on the fight for victory and on the continuation of the World Championship.

The statements collected between Thursday and Friday tell the story of a focused paddock, respectful of its rivals and perfectly aware that every detail could make the difference. After a Friday rich in technical and emotional talking points, everything is ready for one of the most eagerly awaited qualifying sessions of the season, with Brno preparing once again to deliver a spectacle.
