Goiania flooded: MotoGP's return turns into a nightmare
It was meant to be a celebration. It is becoming a problem.
The return of MotoGP in Brazil, one of the most eagerly awaited events of the season, is already hanging in the balance before a bike has even taken to the track. In Goiânia, in fact, the rain has completely upset the plans: the circuit has ended up under water and the situation is anything but under control.
Unrideable track: water everywhere
The images coming from the circuit speak for themselves:
corners completely flooded
paddock access routes submerged
asphalt covered with water and debris
This is not just rain: it is a real flood that has thrown the entire weekend organisation into crisis.
Time is running out: the weekend already at risk
The biggest problem? It is not just what has happened… but what could happen.
The forecasts do not help: more rain is expected precisely on the days of free practice and race.
And that is where the situation gets complicated.
MotoGP does race in the wet, yes. But not in extreme conditions.
If the water does not drain in time, the riders' safety becomes an insurmountable limit.
A historic return hanging by a thread
The Brazil GP represents much more than just a race:
return after more than 20 years
strategic market for MotoGP
great anticipation from South American fans
And yet, all of this risks being scuppered by the weather.
Work in progress… but will it be enough?
Work in the paddock continues without stopping:
drainage systems activated
vehicles on track to clear the water
continuous safety checks
But the feeling is clear: it is a race against time.
Will they really race?
At the moment there are no official decisions. But the scenario remains wide open.
Everything will depend on the next few hours.
And on a question everyone is asking now: will MotoGP be able to race in Brazil… or is the GP already at risk of cancellation?
