The young Mercedes talent handled an intense race, full of pressure and strategic battles, showing surprising maturity despite his young age.

On the Florida street circuit, Antonelli built his success with composure and precision. After a difficult start and the early pressure from McLaren, the Italian driver kept control of the situation thanks to a consistent pace and impeccable tyre management. In the final stages he withstood the attacks of his rivals without ever making mistakes, thus consolidating a victory that also carries enormous weight psychologically.

The feeling in the paddock is now clear: Formula 1 has found the new face around which to build the future of the championship.

The meeting between Lionel Messi and Kimi Antonelli goes viral

What made the Miami weekend even more special was the moment that brought together two different sporting worlds, united by absolute excellence. At the end of the race, Lionel Messi went to the Mercedes pits to personally congratulate Kimi Antonelli after the triumph in the 2026 Miami GP.

The meeting between the Argentine champion and the young Italian driver immediately spread across social media and international sports platforms. The images of the hug between Messi and Antonelli became one of the most shared pieces of content of the weekend, further fuelling the popularity of the Mercedes driver.

Antonelli, visibly emotional, spoke about his admiration for the Argentine champion, describing the moment as “surreal” and hard to forget. Messi also appeared struck by the calm and personality of the Italian driver, capable of asserting himself in Formula 1 with extraordinary naturalness.

The scene took on a very strong symbolic meaning: on one side an absolute legend of world sport, on the other the talent destined to represent the new generation of Formula 1.

Mercedes is pinning everything on Antonelli to open a new era

Inside the Mercedes team, the belief is growing that they have found the driver capable of bringing the team back to the top on a stable basis after the years dominated by Lewis Hamilton. Antonelli's performances in the opening races of 2026 have impressed engineers and management, above all for his ability to handle pressure, strategy and the decisive moments of the race.

In Miami the Italian driver showed that he can win even in complex conditions. Not just pure speed, but also tactical intelligence, perfect communication with the pit wall and impeccable tyre management. Elements that normally belong to drivers with far more experience.

After the race the atmosphere in the Mercedes pits was one of great enthusiasm. The team sees in Antonelli the technical and media project on which to build the future of modern Formula 1. Charisma, results and popularity are all growing at the same time, making the Italian driver one of the absolute protagonists of the season.

Formula 1 changes face: Miami crowns the new world phenomenon

The 2026 Miami GP once again confirmed the transformation of Formula 1 into a global spectacle capable of bringing together sport, entertainment and international pop culture. Celebrities, athletes and show-business figures filled the paddock throughout the weekend, but at the centre of attention remained Kimi Antonelli.

The victory achieved in Florida represents much more than a simple sporting success. It is the definitive international consecration of a driver who is rapidly becoming a global superstar. The American public, historically increasingly close to Formula 1 in recent years, embraced Antonelli as one of the symbolic faces of the new generation of motorsport.

The hug with Lionel Messi further amplified this process. Two different disciplines, two different eras, but the same universal language of talent. And it is precisely this image that tells the story better than any standings of the extraordinary moment lived by Kimi Antonelli after the 2026 Miami GP.

Kimi Antonelli dreams of the world title after Miami

With his success in Miami, Antonelli strengthens his bid for the world title and sends a clear message to all his rivals. The consistency of performance shown in the opening races of the championship is turning the young Italian into the main technical and mental reference point in the paddock.

The season is still long, but the level reached by the Mercedes driver already seems that of an established champion. Speed, pressure management and communication skills are making Antonelli one of the most important figures in contemporary Formula 1.

Miami could be remembered as the race that definitively changed his status: no longer just an emerging talent, but a true global icon of world sport.
