There is something different in the air at Suzuka. You can feel it already from Friday morning, when the wind cuts through the esses and the most iconic circuit in the world championship returns to tell the truth. There is no bluffing here. Here, the one who is ready to become champion emerges.

And on the weekend of 27-28-29 March 2026, the message came through loud and clear.

The temple of Suzuka: where destiny is decided

The Japanese Grand Prix, the third round of the world championship, is run on one of the most technical and spectacular tracks on the calendar: 5,807 km, 53 laps, legendary corners such as the 130R and the opening esses.

It is no coincidence that historically the driver starting from the front has won: 30 times the winner has started from the front row.

So watch out: what happened on Saturday may already have decided half the race.

Formula 1, the return to Suzuka: between present and memory

Explosive Saturday: Antonelli on pole again at Suzuka

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s get the doubt out of the way straight away:
Kimi Antonelli is no longer a prospect. He is a reality.

Pole position with a sensational lap in 1:28.778, his second in a row after China.

And above all:

Mercedes ahead of everyone with a one-two (Antonelli–Russell)

A clear gap to the competition

A sense of dominance

Behind:

Piastri third

Leclerc fourth

Norris fifth

Hamilton sixth

And then the surprise:
Verstappen out in Q2, only eleventh

A heavy blow for Red Bull, with a car described as difficult to handle.

Formula 1, Chinese GP: Antonelli wins in Shanghai. Mercedes dominate, Ferrari on the podium with Hamilton

The technical keys: why Mercedes are ahead

This weekend is no accident. It is the result of a perfect balance:

New FIA rules on energy, which change race management

Mercedes have interpreted these changes better than anyone

Perfect set-up in Suzuka's fast corners

In free practice we had already seen it:
Antonelli and Russell ahead of everyone, Ferrari further back.

In other words: race pace and qualifying pace are there.

And when Suzuka smiles on you, it is hard to lose.

Ferrari: there, but not enough

The feeling is clear: Ferrari are the second force, but they still do not have the decisive punch.

Leclerc is solid, but without the speed to attack pole position.
Hamilton struggles with balance and remains further back.

In the world championship:

Russell leader

Antonelli right behind

Leclerc already adrift

Something more is needed, and it is needed now.

Sunday: everything ready for the battle

The race will start on Sunday 29 March at 07:00 Italian time.

The scenarios are crystal clear:

Antonelli can take the lead in the world championship

Mercedes' internal duel ready to ignite

Ferrari called upon to fight back

McLaren possible outsider

Verstappen forced into a recovery race

Suzuka does not forgive.
And here, more than anywhere else, talent makes the difference.
