The Ducati rider leaves his rivals no chance at MotorLand Aragón
Nicolò Bulega continues to rewrite the history of the 2026 Superbike World Championship. At the MotorLand Aragón circuit, the Aruba.it Racing Ducati rider also won Race 2, completing a perfect weekend after the victories in Race 1 and the Superpole Race.
An authoritative performance from start to finish, confirming the dominance shown by the Italian throughout the entire season. Once again Bulega showed that he has something extra compared with the opposition, both over one lap and in race pace, turning the Spanish round into a true display of strength.
Behind him, Iker Lecuona and Sam Lowes finished, both with solid races but unable to keep the pace set by the championship leader.
Aragón Race 2: Bulega takes the lead and controls the race
The start had suggested the possibility of a hard-fought race. Lecuona, buoyed by the home crowd, immediately tried to join the battle for victory, looking to put pressure on the Ducati rider in the early stages of the race.
For a few laps the Spaniard managed to stay attached to the Panigale number 11, but once Bulega found his ideal rhythm he began to build his advantage. Lap after lap the gap increased, allowing him to manage the situation without particular risks right up to the chequered flag.
Behind the top two, Sam Lowes consolidated his position in third, with another extremely positive weekend that confirms his progress within the championship.
A perfect weekend that strengthens the world lead
Aragón is probably one of the high points of the Emilian rider’s season. From free practice to the final race, Bulega was the outright benchmark of the weekend, taking pole position and winning every race contested.
His ability to adapt to the different conditions of the track and to manage tyres and race pace perfectly allowed the Ducati rider to build an important lead in the World Championship standings.
The impression is that the pairing formed by Bulega and the Panigale V4 R has reached an extraordinary level of competitiveness. At this moment nobody seems to possess the combination of speed, consistency and management that characterises the championship leader.
Bulega: “We’re working in the right direction”
After the race, the Italian rider highlighted his satisfaction with the work done by the team throughout the whole weekend. Bulega pointed out how every detail of the bike worked perfectly and how the feeling with the Panigale has improved further over the last few races.
Particularly significant was the Superpole Race held a few hours before Race 2, a challenge more complicated than the final result suggests. After a very intense first phase, the Ducati leader managed to find the right moment to attack and claim a crucial victory and arrive at the long race with great confidence.
Lecuona confirms his value in front of the home crowd
Among the most positive notes of the weekend is certainly the performance of Iker Lecuona. The Spaniard was the rider who, more than anyone else, managed to get close to Bulega over the course of the weekend, showing speed and determination on a track he knows very well.
The second place obtained in Race 2 confirms his excellent form and represents an important result in terms of the championship. Although he was not able to take victory in front of the Spanish fans, Lecuona leaves Aragón with the awareness that he can fight steadily for the leading positions.
Ducati dominates, the rivals chase
The Aragón round once again highlighted the technical and sporting superiority of Ducati in the 2026 championship. The Borgo Panigale manufacturer continues to collect extraordinary results thanks to an extremely competitive bike and riders capable of exploiting its full potential.
The rivals continue to work to reduce the gap, but for now the benchmark remains the Panigale V4 R. BMW, Yamaha and Kawasaki show flashes of competitiveness, but they still cannot guarantee the consistency needed to challenge the dominance of the Italian team.
The title race goes through Bulega
With his victory in Race 2, Nicolò Bulega leaves Aragón with a maximum points haul and an even stronger world lead. His season continues to take on ever greater significance, thanks to a level of consistency rarely seen in recent WorldSBK years.
The championship is still long, but the message sent by the Ducati rider at MotorLand Aragón is clear: to win the 2026 world title, everyone will have to deal with him.
After a weekend dominated from start to finish, Bulega heads to the next rounds as the rider to beat and the main contender for the crown.
