At Interlagos Lewis Hamilton brings the duel with Charles Leclerc in the Mexican Grand Prix back into focus. On Thursday the Ferrari driver said he is still irritated by what happened on the opening lap in Mexico City and explained that the team has still not had time to address the issue in depth. The contact at Turn 4 had an impact on both drivers' races and left Ferrari with second and fourth place.

The Briton did not change his line even in front of the Brazilian media. Asked about his team-mate's behaviour on track, Hamilton confirmed that he believes Leclerc is harder on him than on other drivers. He also referred to his previous experiences with Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz, as a reference to the relationships the Monegasque has had with past team-mates.

Hamilton's words

Hamilton used a blunt tone even when explaining that the issue is not closed. «I'm still frustrated», said the Ferrari driver at Interlagos, adding that the internal discussion will come when there is room to have it. In another answer, when faced with the question about Leclerc's alleged greater aggression towards him, he replied with a dry: «Yes. I can't say more».

According to Motorsport.com, Fred Vasseur spoke briefly with both drivers, but separately, after the Mexican GP. The affair has also left its mark because Hamilton recalled that, in Mexico, Ferrari had a concrete chance of a one-two and that the incident between the two ultimately complicated the team's race.

Leclerc and the Brazilian weekend

The showdown, however, will come too late. Leclerc returned to Europe between Mexico and Brazil to be with his family after the birth of his daughter Bianca, who was born in Monaco on Tuesday 3 November. The Monegasque will return to the track on Friday for FP2, while Ferrari's opening free practice session will be entrusted to Dino Beganovic. Hamilton, for his part, is preparing to contest his 400th Grand Prix in Formula 1 at Interlagos.
