Raul Fernandez back on track: green light for the Qatar GP in Lusail

Raul Fernandez returns for the Qatar GP weekend with the green light. After the medical check carried out at the Lusail International Circuit, the Spanish rider of Trackhouse obtained the fitness clearance to contest the entire race weekend. The verdict comes after the check by the championship medical team, which assessed the fractured index finger on his right hand sustained in the Sprint in Indonesia.

The injury had opened up a difficult spell for the #25. Fernandez had tried to stay on the bike in the next two rounds, in Australia and Malaysia, but on both occasions he then chose to retire because of the pain. After those trips, he returned to Spain to continue his recovery before the Lusail round.

At this point the weekend in Qatar opens with different news for the Trackhouse rider. The check carried out on Thursday came back positive and allows him to tackle the GP without any further steps linked to this medical examination.

In Lusail the situation also concerns two other riders. Motorsport.com Italia reports that Jorge Martín has received the green light for FP1, but will have to undergo a new check after the session before obtaining full fitness for the rest of the Grand Prix. The championship medical director, Dr Ángel Charte, will assess his condition at the end of the opening session.

The same site adds that Fermín Aldeguer has instead received the all-clear for the whole weekend. The Murcian rider is back on track after missing the Indonesian GP in Mandalika because of a fracture to his right hand, which had already forced him to sit out Australia and Malaysia as well.
