Monza closed Friday in the FIA WEC 2026 with Robert Kubica ahead of everyone in the second free practice session. On the wet Autodromo Nazionale, still marked by difficult conditions as in the morning, the Pole took the Ferrari 499P #83 of AF Corse to the day’s benchmark in 1:38.143, in the weekend that prepares for the final round of the season, scheduled for Sunday.
The track improves as the minutes pass and dries noticeably, but FP2 remains a session to be read with caution. The #83's time comes when the asphalt offers more grip than at the start, and it is also seven seconds faster than the best morning benchmark. Behind Kubica, the Proton Competition Ford Mustangs also stood out, with Sebastian Priaulx and Logan Sargeant at the top of the timing sheets for the American manufacturer.
Among the official Ferrari cars, Antonio Fuoco finished with the seventh fastest time in 1:40.295 in the #50, while Antonio Giovinazzi took the #51 to 15th place in 1:41.783. Friday in Monza thus leaves a still partial picture, built on a damp track and on references that may matter less when the conditions change.
Fuoco summed up the situation to FormulaPassion: «Tomorrow and Sunday everything will change, we will discover the dry track directly in the race». The driver of the #50 explained that visibility was very difficult because of the spray kicked up by the cars ahead and that several off-track excursions also occurred in the session.
