Racing Bulls announced on Friday, on the weekend of the São Paulo GP, Alan Permane's contract extension: the British manager will remain team principal and sporting co-CEO until the end of 2031. The agreement extends the bond between the 59-year-old Englishman and the Faenza team for another few seasons, with the aim of ensuring continuity in its growth.
Permane joined Racing Bulls as racing director at the start of 2024. In July 2025 he took charge of the team, when Laurent Mekies left the role to take over the leadership of Red Bull Racing. Since then, the team has secured its first podium under the VCARB name, thanks to Isack Hadjar's third place in the 2025 Dutch GP.
The renewal comes as Racing Bulls is still in the running for fifth place in the Constructors' standings. In 2025 the team finished sixth, matching its best result, while in 2024 it had ended up eighth. A journey that has seen the team establish itself in the midfield of Formula 1.
For Permane, this is a confirmation that rewards a background built over more than three decades in the World Championship. In Formula 1 he has worked with Benetton, Renault and Alpine, after starting in 1989 and before arriving in Faenza. His experience in the Enstone group has spanned different roles, from race engineer to sporting director, through the titles won with Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso.
“I am immensely proud to continue this journey with VCARB,” said Permane. Oliver Mintzlaff, for Red Bull, also explained: “Alan is doing an extraordinary job”.
